Growing with the North Shore

In 1981, the agency moved up the road to 999 Pacific Highway – still our home today. From this address, the team has guided thousands of families through major life transitions: first homes, upsizing, downsizing, and everything in between.

John took over the business at just 27, after Henry passed away in 1977. He built on his father’s legacy with the same clear focus: be honourable, be honest, and always work for the best result for the client. Over the decades, John became one of the most trusted names in North Shore real estate – known as much for repeat and multi-generational relationships as for record sales.

Three generations, one philosophy

In 2007, John’s son Josh joined the business, bringing a background in economics, finance and technology to the agency.

Josh had worked in global financial markets, but real estate had been part of his life since childhood. Listening to calls in the car, watching campaigns unfold and seeing the impact a good sale could have on a family all left their mark. Joining Luschwitz was less a career change and more a continuation of a family story.

Today, Josh directs Luschwitz alongside a hand-picked team of long-serving agents and property managers. Many of them have spent decades on the Upper North Shore and beyond, and are recognised by clients and industry peers alike for their experience, negotiation skills and care.

We began as a small, family-run agency on Sydney’s Upper North Shore. Today, we’re a multi-generational, independent business that gives you an uncommon advantage in the property market – through truly personal service, deep experience and a commitment to doing what’s right, not just what’s easy.

Where it all began

Our story starts with Henry and John Luschwitz – a father and son who decided to open their own agency in Pymble in 1969.

Henry came to real estate later in life after an international career in music. With three doctorates in music and a network that stretched across continents, he was known for his sharp mind, perfect pitch and deep compassion. Those same qualities shaped the way he approached property: meticulous, thoughtful and always focused on people, not just transactions.

The early days of Luschwitz were spent selling motels, residential development sites and commercial and industrial properties across New South Wales. Henry and John worked closely with some of Sydney’s pioneering developers, helping to sell the sites that would become landmark apartment buildings. As those buyers came back and asked, “Can you sell our homes too?” the business naturally evolved into the residential agency it is today.

The first office opened at 855 Pacific Highway, Pymble. It was here that the Luschwitz name became synonymous with trust on the North Shore – long before digital marketing and CRMs, when deals were done on a word and a handshake.
